The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is offering a program that can help homeowner pay to replace or upgrade their failing septic systems. Applicants much live in the upper White River watershed in Missouri to qualify for this program.
Due to the growing number of full time residents and increased new construction Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas has an increased contamination rate of groundwater, some of which feeds into the lake of the Ozarks.
The grant program is designed for people who are living near or below the poverty level. For those that have more income they may still qualify for small grant amounts or zero interest loan programs. The location of the Septic system also has a factor in whether or not a resident will qualify for the grant.
